Shortlisted for a BSFA Award
Or: Huzzah!

Delighted to see that the second Fight Like A Girl anthology, edited by Jo Hall and Roz Clarke and published by Cheryl Morgan at Wizard’s Tower Press, has been shortlisted for best anthology by the BSFA.
The collection celebrates women in the genre, featuring strong female leads and some of the best women writers of SFF. It follows the huge success of the first Fight Like A Girl antho, published by Kristell Ink books in 2016, which was also Award-listed.

Both of these collections were written in answer to the (sadly still existing) accusation that stories of woman warriors are somehow unrealistic (and likewise ties in with the more recent belief that SFF ‘didn’t exist for women’ ‘til the current ‘romantasy’ trend).
FLAG2 features:
- Foreword by Roz Clarke & Joanne Hall
- Introduction by Charlotte Bond
- The God of Lost Things Or Ethel, Dragonslayer by Danie Ware
- Ambition’s Engine by Gaie Sebold
- A Human Response by Dolly Garland
- More Trouble Than She’s Worth? by Cheryl Morgan
- Civil War by Juliet E. McKenna
- Lady Cona by Anna Smith Spark
- Ready for Combat by K R Green
- We have Always Been Here by Julia Hawkes-Reed
- The Seamstress, the Hound, the Cook, and her Brother by K T Davies
- A Way Out by S. Naomi Scott
- Amplify by Lou Morgan
The full list of nominations is here, and the winners will be announced at this year’s EasterCon.
Fingers crossed!
